As women we get so caught up in how we are supposed to be, what role do we play. So much freedom has been fought for us, rights have been given, equality taken. Yet now, we fear what our identity reflects, and we strive to find our true identity. We are not always the mother, the fighter, the athlete, the woman at the top. We want so much yet sometimes have no idea where to start. We have desires in our heart, but no desire to be. As a mother we miss our career. As a career woman we long for children and family. As the tough broad we yearn to be weak. We seek shelter in our friends, but fear our vulnerability. We lose ourselves in our relationships. Always trying to be what we are not while trying to be who we are. So confused many of us are.
So we try to figure it out. We discuss, analyze, over think, cry, break down, toughen up, fight and still no idea who we are. Yet women still the same. Truth is, we are just that, women. We are tough, capable of many things. We are vulnerable and weak. We are amazing and smart. And yes, we are a little bit crazy. But most importantly we are His, the creator.
If we as women, stop worrying how the world views us, stop trying to be something we are not and start embracing the amazing beings we are; those who love us and those who fear us are in for a major surprise. So what if she has three kids and an amazing husband and you don't. So what if she just won the gold medal and you didn't. So what if she just published that book and you can't even get your career started. So what. Who are you? look in the mirror. Did God not take great pride when He created you for this world? Did God not create you for this whole world? Stop wondering why you are here and start seeing why you are here. A woman will only become confident in who she is when she realizes she was created with a purpose far greater than the purpose of a man.
We fight so hard to be like our men or better than our men or equal to our men; but that is not our fight. Our fight is with ourselves. Listen to who your are, listen when God tells you, you are beautiful. You have to be quite, He speaks volumes but you need to turn everything else down to hear Him. If you are a mother embrace how rad you are just loving your children and taking care of your home. If you are infiltrating your career, embrace your hard work and intelligence. Grab your guitar and sing, your easel and paint. Let go of all the things you supposedly can't do or were never able to do, your not dead. You have a life right in front of you, live it. Stop trying to figure out how you are supposed to be, what you are supposed to do and start enjoying you. You are here for a purpose and if your whole purpose is caught up in everything that everyone else says then you are missing you and missing your purpose. You do something better than she does and she does something better than you do. Don't be jealous, don't feel inadequate, don't be afraid. Wear you silly socks with your slippers, your sexy blazer with your heels, your boots with your dickies or your tennis shoes with your hair in a pony tail. Just do you.
Those who love you will not try to change you and those who try to change you don't really love you.
